California Inspiration Spring 2014 Part I

Hello Chics,

Since the three hour time difference has me a little off, I decided to do some window shopping at the 3rd Street Promenade. Every time I come to LA, I get a boost of inspiration from the culture and the lifestyle here. One of the things that inspires me the most is how people really get up at 5:00am (which is time I left my hotel room to come out) and they run and speed walk on Santa Monica Beach. So if nothing else, I may decide to start a workout regiment when I return to the east coast in a few days.

Now while the moisture has clearly taken my hair down to the ground, I wanted to share some pics that were inspiring for me as I start shopping for #Spring2014 for our website. I want to make mention that I include the Apple store picture just as a reminder of what I hope to grow this brand to become. I mean Apple stores are literally becoming mini-malls that are full of people all day. Some aren’t buying, they just want to bathe in the atmosphere of it all. I ask myself, “How can I get girls to come and hang out at the store all day like that too?

This is the stand alone accessory store for Forever 21. They have turned low moderate (disposable) clothing into a sensation. To sustain a store built on low end accessories is amazing especially in LA.

This was a best shot I could get of this store with that tree in front on it. But it almost looks like a mega brand store like Ralph Lauren or even Juicy Couture who has several multi leveled stores.

The Guess window on 3rd street Promenade. It was a take on how we rocked denim in the 80's. All the tops we signature black and white, which is a key color combination for the fall.

Now Kitson has come a long way. I was in LA visiting when they first opened many years ago and I love how they have become their own brand. They carry very ecletic  and edgy pieces, books and accessories. The kids clothing section is edgy as well.
So for Spring, I am not sure about how much we will do of the Black and White trend. We will see what the manufacturers are putting out there and go from there. Spring is a lot of personal style. Any trend you want to try, you can.
